A spring day at Sherando Lake, in the George Washington National Forest, Augusta County Virginia. Located in the southern end of the Shenandoah Valley, it's known locally as the jewel of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Sherando is the larger of the two lakes at 24 acres. It, as well as many of the recreational facilities, were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the mid 1930s.
